WABASH CORRIDOR TRAIL

Project Description: Completed 1999.  This project consisted of a Preliminary Study, Preparation of Construction Plans and Construction Observation for  2.3 miles of new multipurpose  trail.  The trail was constructed using AASHTO guidelines with a 12 ft wide aggregate base course pavement with 3'-3" of Bituminous Concrete Surface course, with 2 ft. aggregate shoulders.  The trail runs easterly from Robbins Road to the parking facility at the east end near MacArthur Blvd.  The trail follows along the abandoned Wabash RR.
 
This project included the design of a prefabricated bridge over Chatham Road with modular block retaining walls and the modification of an existing RR bridge over IL Rte 4.
