Construction Cost: $3,800,000
Project Description:
County Highway 18 was reconstructed on a new alignment. The river crossing is located approximately 500' downstream of the existing bridge. The new structure consists of six spans at 124'-154'-122'-122'-154'-124' with a total length of 799' and a total width of 37'. The bridge carries two lanes of traffic and a pedestrian sidewalk. The existing terrain resulted in a high profile structure 70' above the stream bed.
The superstructure is made up of a concrete deck on steel plate girders. The substructure consists of reinforced concrete piers founded on rock and pile supported abutments. Special design features include inspection platforms and design for heavy ice flows.
Work included roadway, bridge design and preparation of construction documents.
